The Phosphor Appear is driven by Micro-Magnetic Mechanical Digital (M3D) technology, the Phosphor Appear watch utilizes miniature-sized rotors adorned with Swarovski crystals that revolve to reveal numerical or chronological information. Every minute, an electrical pulse generates an electromagnetic field that changes the position of the crystals on the face of the watch, which in turn, displays the passing time while producing a distinctive sound unique to the Phosphor Appear digital watch line. We chat with Mark Graham of PixelOptics in this episode. PixelOptics impressed us with its futuristic take on corrective vision and glasses. As you'll see, they've been able to put liquid crystal into the lenses, along with circuitry in the frame, that allows you to enable and disable the bifocal mode on your glasses with a tap of the frame. You can also enable an auto on/off by way of the accelerometer. Even if you don't wear glasses, this is a very cool look at what can be done. This video was recorded at CES 2012.

This report shows even if Android devices outnumber iOS devices, developers are making FAR more money per iOS user than they are on each Android user. I think it’s just the “buying culture” of Apple users who buy devices in order to buy apps. Compare that too most Android users who just want a smart phone and buying apps is really a secondary or even lower consideration.

These kinds of ads are a vastly different kind of animal from standard in-app ads.
There is no way to know what app is causing the advertisements.
Push ads that appear in your notification bar and show up as icons on your home screen.
Some developers are being upfront about this kind of advertising, the vast majority are not.
The easiest way to get rid of these ads is to install an app that can detect what app is causing them. Here are 2:
AdFree Android (more info) (requires a rooted device)
Addons Detector (reviewed in Episode 80) (more info) (doesn’t require root)
These apps don’t remove the ads, they just let you know what app is causing the ads so you can remove them yourself.
Just to make iOS users more smug, these kinds of ads are banned on iOS devices.

Oh Did I Mention?

Digg founder Kevin Rose went to work for Google and Google removed the “reddit is fun” app from Google Play.
Which is a shame, it was the only Reddit app optimized for phones and tablets.
Removed for NSFW content, but for some reason Dolphin Browser is still on Google Play.

It does this using its 20 LED color dot-matrix display that shows how much Nike Fuel you've earned during the day, and another 100 white LEDs to give you information in calories burned, time of day, and pedometer info. We show you the awesome Third Rail Slim Case and Smart Battery for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S in this episode. The design of the Third Rail system is brilliant. The case itself protects the iPhone, but is super slim because of the fact that the battery is removable. When you need power, you just slide a Smart Battery into place, and your phone is charging. Even cooler, the Smart Battery can charge other USB devices on its own, not just iPhones. During SXSW last week, I found out just how awesome the concept behind the Third Rail Smart Case was. I had three Smart Batteries with me, which was way less bulky (and way less expensive!) then carrying three separate case chargers, like the Mophie Juice Pack Air or something similar, and the fact that I could use the Smart Batteries to charge my other USB devices was a fantastic bonus. We bring you a look at the Swingline Stack and Shred, a shredder that can shred up to 100 pages at a time in one fell swoop. With the Swingline Stack and Shred, you just load the paper in that needs to be shredded, similar to the way that you load a stack of blank paper into your printer. Close the lid, and the Stack and Shred goes to work with no need for you to stand there going page by page, no overheating, no paper jamming, etc. It will also shred through documents with paper clips and staples in them, and also does credit cards. The Android Tech Show: Droid RAZR Maxx Review – Ep. 68

Just like the Droid Razr that I reviewed a couple weeks ago but with a fat back battery.

What this phone does right:

Easily accessible USB and HDMI ports.
Uses the standard spacing found on all Motorola phones now so it works with Moto dock connectors.
Side wake/lock.
Very loud speaker.
Mic on front and back for noise cancellation and good audio capture for video.
Comes with a cool AccuWeather live wallpaper app.

What this phone does wrong:

Button order is odd.
USB/HDMI ports on the top. Prefer them on the side.
Motoblur skin makes app switching slow and adding apps to the home screen more difficult than it should be.

With a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and a confirmed ICS upgrade by Motorola this phone is a definite must-buy for Verizon customers that don’t need a physical keyboard.
