IE9 developer preview is out - are you testing with it yet?

I recently found UserFly.com as a great tool to track and record your visitors' sessions, then found an older set of example code called MoveLogger if you're inclined to try to build the same thing from scratch.

ClickHeat is a tool I've used to track where people are clicking on sites, giving you a pretty good idea of how visitors are engaging with your site.

Some interesting conferences coming up over next few months - JSConf in DC, TXJS in Austin and NCDevCon in Raleigh. Know of any more?

Ronald dan Ariya berbincang-bincang ringan seputar LinuxTag 2009 dan Desktop Summit di Gran Canaria. Di ajang LinuxTag (yang diadakan tiap tahun di Berlin, Jerman) tampil stand-stand dari pelaku open-source, dari distro Linux hingga beragam proyek free software. Trend tahun ini adalah variasi distro optimal untuk netbook. Tahun ini di Gran Canaria untuk pertama kalinya Akademy (konferensi tahunan KDE) dan GUADEC (konferensi tahunan GNOME) diselenggarakn bersamaan di lokasi yang sama, dalam naungan Desktop Summit. Efeknya positif, antara lain dengan Cross Desktop track yang diharapkan memaksimalkan interoperabilitas antara kubu KDE dan GNOME, antara lain untuk search dan indexing (via Nepomuk), spesifikasi Freedesktop.org, bug squad, aplikasi PIM, dan masih banyak lagi. Selain itu, keynotes di Desktop Summit terbilang menarik dan beragam, antara lain dari Robert Lefkowitz (tentang Liberal Software), Walter Bender (seputar Sugar Labs), Richard M. Stallman (pastinya menyinggung masalah .NET dan Mono), Quim Gil (yang mengumumkan bahwa versi ke depan Maemo akan menggunakan Qt), Glyn Moody (bahwa free software punya peranan sangat penting untuk kemanuasiaan). Trend baru dari mobile platform adalah peluang menggunakan teknologi web dan scripting, seperti webOS (untuk Palm), Web Runtime (untuk Nokia), dan Android Scripting (yang mendukung Python dan Lua), untuk mengembangkan aplikasi.

C3 3D Map

Teknologia grafik yang juga dibahas antara lain Video Trace, C3 Technologies, dan Project Natal dari Microsoft. Video Trace bisa digunakan untuk menghasilkan model 3-D dengan mudah dari sebuah video, yang lalu bisa dipakai untuk merekayasa video, lihat demonya di YouTube. Dari C3 Technologies, ada teknik menghasilkan model 3-D sebuah kota (lebih realistis dari Google Earth!), tonton misalnya presentasinya di Where 2.0 Conference yang lalu. Teknologi ini sudah digunakan untuk menayangkan peta 3-D dari Oslo (tempat Ariya tinggal sekarang), untuk mencobanya silakan buka kart.finn.no lalu klik tombol 3-D dan instal pluginnya (lihat screenshot hasilnya). Untuk gamers, Project Natal (demo di YouTube) adalah masa depan karena membuka paradigma baru untuk berinteraksi dengan game.
