    Uneasy with RFID

    by Andrew McCaskey
The article today from a label manufacturer is pretty matter of fact - concerning all of the places that RFID tags can be inserted and attached into consumer items, foodstuffs, medicine and all manner of objects.

As I mentioned in the podcast, I am becoming vaguely uneasy. Anything with this sort of technology - and RF technology at that - begins to get my attention. We had an article a week or so ago that began to alert me to some of the downsides and implications beyond the postive logistic stream, inventory control aspects and move to the darker side of the technology.

And there is plenty of darkside - from a privacy and civil liberties standpoint. I’m going to see if we can cover this in a future TPN Roundtable.
