The Customary New MacBook

TO people outside the Mac universe, it might be hard to fathom the inherent excitement around the release of a new laptop (mainly because there are hundreds of new models being released every day around the world) but it is also that there is something very exciting about the release of new Apple laptops, but what? Well, they are the only Macs of that form factor, and they are very pretty too!

Over the last year, there have been rumours and mock-ups of new MacBook and MacBook Pros flying around on rumour blogs, getting more and more convincing. We saw that rumours can pan out to be true most recently with the leaked photos of the new iPod Nanos almost a week before their release.

I bring these up today because the general consensus is that these laptops would be sold in the September to Holiday timeframe to optimise sales for the holiday quarter, and because it is drawing closer, there are more and more mock-ups and blurry camera-phone pictures reporting themselves to be true.

There are reports of limited runs of MacBooks with LED backlit screens and an aggressive new price-point:

Yesterday reported by Engadget was this interesting blurry photo:

A semi-convincing photo of a supposed MacBook Pro with glass trackpad, MacBook Air Keyboard, black screen border, and redesigned edges and curves. Personally, I think this photo is fake because of the angle it appears to have been taken at and the angle of the photo that actually appears.

I suppose the only thing we can do is wait, but in the meantime, Ben can enjoy his almost obsolete MacBook Pro, and I can laugh at him.
